The Jenji movement should be accepted as a revolution: Lawmaker Bhandari
Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Badan Bhandari said that the movement of the Jenji generation should be accepted as a revolution like the previous political movements.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, he reminded that violence and conflict took place during the past political movements as well.
He said, “The Genji generation launched a movement but today we have not been able to accept that movement as a revolution. I want to remind the past that in 2007 B. S., when the Rana revolt was going on, there was violence even then. The revolt of 07 years overthrew the Rana and democracy came. The Panchayat came in 17 years, if you look at the multi-party movement of 2003, there have been various violence during the movement. He said that there were conflicts and violence during the 1990 movement, Jhapa rebellion and leftist rebellion.
‘After the movement of 046 years, when the country got the constitution in 047 years, we should also look at the movement of 046 years. Not only that, we should look at the Jhapa rebellion. We should look at the leftist rebellion. It is your fault that you consider the movement of that time as a revolution and consider the Jenji movement as violence. I want to clarify this. Bhandari said that on September 23, the Genji generation had announced the movement and there was a demand to open the social media that was shut down at that time. He said that during the agitation, the protesters including minors were fired upon and then on the 24th, Singha Durbar and the Supreme Court were set on fire.
He said, “On September 23, the Genji generation announced the movement. At that time, it was about good governance, it was about the social media that was closed at that time. During the revolt on the 23rd, the minors had to be shot in the neck, fall in blood and die. “
He claimed that if the bullets had not been fired on the 23rd, there would not have been a situation of arson in Singha Durbar and the Supreme Court on the 24rd.
“The burning of Singha Durbar on the 24th, the Supreme Court burning on the 24th, should be blamed by those who fired on the 23rd. If the bullets had not been fired on the 23rd, Singha Durbar would not have burned. Revolution is not measured by inches of tape. It should have been. It should not have happened. It should have been burnt, it should not have been burnt, we accept this. “
Bhandari said that there was violence and conflict in the past revolutions as well, and if these movements are to be considered as revolutions, then the Jenji movement should also be accepted as revolution.
