Kathmandu. Within the same relationship, there is love, anger, misunderstanding and sometimes even conflict. Bringing many dimensions of this human relationship to the screen, the movie ‘Jhingedau 2’ is coming to the audience from September 18.
According to actor Mahesh Tripathi, the story of the movie is related to these relationships and emotions seen in Nepali society and family, so the audience will get some parts of their own life in it.
Directed by Gyanendra Deuja, the movie features Mahesh Tripathi, Kushal Bista, Keki Adhikari and Aanchal Sharma in lead roles.
In an exclusive conversation with Nepal News Bank, actor Mahesh Tripathi claimed that ‘Jhingedau 2’ is more powerful, entertaining and emotional than the first part.
Tripathi said that he is currently busy promoting ‘Jhingedau 2’ along with the shooting of the movie.
Tripathi did not want to reveal much about his role in ‘Jhingedao 2’. He said that the audience will have to wait till September 2 to know about his character and the role he will play in the story.
According to him, the story and setting of the first part has been liked by the audience and the second part has been expanded to strengthen the entertainment, theme and emotional aspects.
“The audience has liked the setup of the first part. Now in ‘Jhingedau 2’, the story, entertainment, themes and emotions are being presented in a better way,” Tripathi said.
Stories related to society and human sensibilities
Tripathi said that the story of the film ultimately comes from the life of the society and the people, so the audience will connect with the story in some way or the other.
According to him, the film may have a dramatic or different angle, but at the center of it is human sensitivity. He says that different aspects of relationships, social environment and people’s daily lives are reflected in the story of the film.
“If we tell a story of people, then we are also human beings. So some parts of the story relate to us,” he said.
He said that ‘Jhingedau 2’ presents different dimensions of the relationship within the brother and family. According to him, the relationship is not limited to just love or quarrel. Within the same relationship, many emotions like love, anger, misunderstanding, conflict and belongingness are connected at the same time.
“Relationships are never of one dimension. They are multidimensional. It is a challenging thing in itself to show the relationship between brothers,” Tripathi said.
The challenge is not to understand the character
Tripathi feels that as an actor, it is important to understand the character before immersing yourself in the character. According to him, the character gradually takes shape as he reads the script, understands the psychology of the character and moves forward according to the guidance of the director.
He said that it will help to understand the character as the artist reflects himself in the story while creating the character.
“It is more difficult to understand the character than to be immersed in the character. Once you reflect yourself in the story, you find the character and its psychology,” he said.
Director Gyanendra Deuja has been active in Nepali film production for a long time and is mature and so he took the opportunity to work with him seriously.
He was not in the first part of ‘Jhingedau’. But he says that he was involved in the film because of the potential and importance of the character after Deuja proposed it.
Experience working with Keki and Aanchal
Tripathi said that he has worked with actress Keki Adhikari before and has an old acquaintance with her. He said that ‘Jhingedau 2’ is his first film with actress Aanchal Sharma.
Tripathi says that the experience of working with both the artists was easy and fun. He said that the work between the cast and crew was done in a family environment.
“There is always a cordial atmosphere working with Kekiji. I also had a good experience with Aanchal. They are comfortable, hardworking and talented,” he said.
He said that working with the entire cast and crew of the film has created a family and an intimate atmosphere.
Conflict within the family is a normal human process
Tripathi believes that the family conflict shown in ‘Jhingedau 2’ should not be understood as the reality of a particular family or character.
According to him, there are different types of families, relationships and personalities in the society. It is natural for conflict to arise in the same family as there are different views and perspectives.
“As soon as you are human, there is conflict. It is natural to have conflict when there are two ideas, because the views of one are different from those of the other,” he said.
He said that the relationships shown in the film should not be seen only with the daughters-in-law of the present or the past or a certain class. He said that the film will present various events and relationships of the society in an artistic and dramatic way.
Increased audience enthusiasm by promotional material
Tripathi said that after the release of the teaser, poster and song of ‘Jhingedau 2’, the audience has received an encouraging response.
He said that the teaser has received a good response in a short time and the audience’s curiosity about the film has increased. He said that the Teej song of Keki Adhikari and Aanchal Sharma, who were included in the film in the recent past, is also in the news.
Tripathi said that he felt that the audience was excited to watch the movie while interacting with them in person.
‘Passion first, then profession’
Tripathi said that he saw the future in the film industry about two decades ago. He said that he has been continuously working in this field because of his passion for films.
“I saw the future in the film industry 20 years ago. Passion first, then profession,” he said.
Preparations to link Teej with the promotion of ‘Jhingedau 2’
Stating that the Nepali society has gone through the tragic incident of the recent catastrophe, Tripathi said that daily life should gradually return to normalcy. He said that although it is not possible to forget the pain and sorrow, there is a compulsion to move forward in life.
In this context, he said that efforts will be made to entertain the audience for some time by linking this year’s Teej with the promotion of the film.
“We spend this Teej promoting ‘Jhingedau’ on September 2 with the intention of making a little cold heart, a little sad heart laughing and entertaining a little,” he said.
‘It’s also a responsibility to bring a smile back after sorrow’
Tripathi said that after the disaster or sorrow in the society, it is not possible to remain in the same mourning all the time. He said that journalists, artists and the general public should fulfill their responsibilities and help the society to gradually return to normal.
“Our effort now is to bring the smile back. I think ‘Jhingedau 2’ will do that. It makes you laugh, cry and entertain,” he said.
Actor Tripathi said that he is confident that the audience will like ‘Jhingedau 2’ as the family and social relationships are shown in the film. He also urged the audience who love Nepali movies to watch ‘Jhingedau 2’ from September 18.
