BRICS Summit: ‘New Delhi Declaration 2026’ passed unanimously

Agency. The 18th BRICS Summit began on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The two-day summit will be chaired by India with the theme ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability’.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Massoud Pezeskian. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto are among the leaders attending the summit. On the sidelines of

the summit, Prime Minister Modi visited the ‘Bharat Innovations’ exhibition at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday.

Modi was seen standing next to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Massoud Pezeskian.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had announced that the New Delhi Declaration 2026 had been unanimously adopted at the summit.

“None of the members have raised objections. The New Delhi Declaration 2026 has been passed unanimously,” Modi said at the conference.

This is the fourth time that India has hosted the BRICS summit. The BRICS summit is being held at a time when the ongoing wars in West Asia and Ukraine are hampering energy supplies and water transport, and the pressure of tariffs is increasing among the members. (ANI)
