All four gates of Pashupatinath temple will be opened from 3 am on Teej, security will be tightened
Kathmandu. On the occasion of Haritalika Teej festival, all four gates of Pashupatinath temple will be opened from 3 am on Monday.
Organizing a press conference on Sunday, the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) informed that arrangements have been made to facilitate the pilgrims and devotees to visit the temple on the occasion of Teej in an easy, systematic and safe manner.
According to the Kosh, this year’s Haritalika Teej falls on Monday, September 29. Since the opening of the temple on the day of Teej, arrangements have been made for the darshan by placing transparent nets at the three gates in the north, east and south directions. Like last year, this year also there is no arrangement for special worship and special darshan.
The Trust has determined separate routes for the devotees coming from different regions to manage the crowd of devotees.
Devotees coming from Mitrapark and Umakunda will be taken to the northern ramp of Pashupatinath Temple via the buildings of Umakunda, Dakshinamurti, Kailash and Badri Narsingh.
Similarly, the devotees coming from Gaushala-Jayabageshwori will be taken to the western ramp of Pashupatinath via Jaya Bageshwori, Dathutol, Pacha Ganesh, Annapurna Bhandar, the temporary overhead bridge in front of the Mahasnan Ghar, the overhead bridge in front of Bhuvaneshwari, Nasalchowk and Shankaracharya Math.
Arrangements have been made for the devotees coming from Sinamangal and Airport to offer worship from the gate next to Tilganga Tourism Counter, Ram Mandir, Bagmati Bank, Aryaghat Bridge, Brahmanal and Ramp placed at the east gate.
Devotees coming from Pingalasthan will be taken from the door of Pingalasthan to the temporary sky bridge in front of the big door on the south side through the Char Shivalaya, Panchadewal, Old Age Home. After that, arrangements have been made to visit the south face of the temple via Chausath Kotilingeshwor and return from the west side of the Unmatta Bhairav temple in front of the main Bhatta residence.
According to the Trust, there will be five lines outside the temple and it will be divided into eight lines after entering the temple premises.
There will be three lines in the north, two in the east, one in the south and two in the west. Arrangements have been made for the quick darshan so that eight devotees can visit the temple at a time, according to the PADT.
The Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force (APF) and the Municipal Police Force of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have set up their own command posts to make security arrangements for the Teej festival. The main camp of Nepal Police will be set up in front of the Bhandari Guthi house at Bhakuntole.
Security will be beefed up at Gorakhnath, Bishworupa area, Kiranteshwor, Guheshwori, Gaurighat, Umakunda, Kailash, Mitrapark, Jay Bageshwori, Gaushala, Pinglasthan, Tilganga, Suryaghat, Aryaghat, Bhashmeshwor Ghat, Kiriyaputri area and Ram Temple of Pashupati area.
Police in plain clothes will be deployed two days before the start of the festival to prevent pickpocketing and other irregular activities. The fund has said that arrangements will be made to increase surveillance on suspicious persons and take them under control as per the need.
The meeting also decided to request the District Administration Office, Kathmandu to publish a public notice to completely ban the sale, distribution and consumption of meat, alcohol and other intoxicating substances.
Since Teej is a special festival for women, men will generally not be allowed to enter certain core areas as in the past. The trust has said that security patrolling and monitoring will be increased throughout the fair period to prevent violence against women.
The Kosh has clarified that it has not provided any kind of pass for temple darshan. Male Nitya Darshan has been required to enter through the doors of Darshan Marg of all areas by 5:30 am.
Arrangements have been made for the local residents to go to work or office from their residence on the basis of the local pass issued by Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8 and return to their residence in the evening.
Similarly, the organizations doing volunteerism should volunteer only in the designated areas and work under the coordination and direction of the Nepal Police. The PADT has stated that the police will also be deployed for the security of the footwear and slippers room to be operated on the south side of the Ram temple across the Bagmati River from the previous day.
