Government focused on spending time rather than work: MP Rai
Kathmandu Aryan Rai, a lawmaker from the Labour and Culture Party, accused the government of failing to work result-oriented to solve the problems of the people.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, MP Rai accused the government of failing to work effectively on the issues of free visa, free ticket, problems of farmers, problems of unsystematic settlers and landless squatters, education, roads and price control, among others.
He said that the government should create employment and make foreign employment systematic to end the situation of millions of Nepali youths being forced to go abroad. He said that although the government has made arrangements for free visa and free ticket, the youths have to pay millions of rupees to go abroad.
MP Rai said that the government should take concrete steps to solve the problems of the farmers and control and manage monkeys. He also said that the work regarding providing land ownership certificates and land ownership certificates to the unsystematic settlers and squatters has not been done as per the government’s announcement.
He said that although the MPs have raised the problems of their constituencies time and again, the result-oriented work has not been done accordingly. He urged the government to focus on the work, saying that with the passage of time, one should not get entangled in blame rather than solving the problems.
He also raised the problem of roads, stalled projects and communication services in his district Khotang in the House. He drew the attention of the concerned ministry to expedite the expansion of 4G service, saying that there is no phone service in some places of Khotang.
Stating that there is a problem of teacher vacancy in the education sector across the country, MP Rai said that the government should classify the problem and solve it on the basis of priority. He urged the government to pay special attention to ensure quality education, saying the state has invested heavily in government schools.
He said that the government has not been effective even in controlling inflation. He said that due to the shortage of gas, people have to stand in long queues, and the problem of gas has not been resolved even after the change of ministers.
He demanded that the government should work on a ‘fast track’ to immediately resolve the problem of daily essentials including gas.
