Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Rahbar Ansari has accused the National Medical College in Birgunj of irregularities in the inspection of the Medical Education Commission by showing fake faculty and patients.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, Ansari said that the postgraduate (PG) students of National Medical College have been agitating for the past 10 days. According to him, 10 days ago, PG students were barred from vacating hostels, working in hospitals and even entering through the college gates.

Ansari claimed that the students were treated like this after they exposed the alleged irregularities in the name of the medical college.

He said, “About 25 fake faculty members — non-working professors, fake professors — have been taken PG seats in that medical college.” He alleged that even during the inspection of the Medical Education Commission, the college management made the security guards sick and kept them in the emergency ward and made them offer water.

‘The state should not confuse the colleges that are running such scams in the state in the name of fake patients, fake teachers, fake inspections, their ornaments, the future of the students,” he said.

Ansari also claimed that no action has been taken against the institutions involved in such activities due to their relationship with influential political figures in the past. He alleged that the Medical Education Commission, the Dean’s Office of Tribhuvan University, the Chief District Officer and the police administration were also affected.

“Today, those students are roaming the streets of Kathmandu, no one has listened,” he said.

He asked the Education Minister to conduct a serious inquiry into the problems of the students and manage them. He said that if the problem is confirmed in the college, the state should take the responsibility of managing the students in other medical colleges.

MP Ansari also accused the college of taking Rs 3 lakh from Nepali students and Rs 5 lakh from foreign students to pass a subject. According to him, the process of taking money and writing the answer in the answer sheet is being passed.

He said that such activities could lead to serious errors in the treatment of patients in the future and the state should take the matter seriously immediately.

‘Munna Bhai’ used to be fun for 3 hours, but when ‘Munna Bhai’ is running openly in the state, it is a serious issue for the state,” Ansari said.
