KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the party can rise above the current setback if it moves ahead by strengthening it. Administering the oath of office and secrecy to the nominated members of the central committee at the party office in Chyasal on Friday, Oli said that the party, which has been moving ahead with the grand goal of the country’s prosperity, may face setbacks at times. He also urged the party leaders and cadres not to get entangled in petty issues and egos.
“The elements obstructing the country’s development tried to stop our campaign, provoke it, defame the party but they do not talk about the policies,” he said. ’
He claimed that the CPN (UML) has brought the economic policy keeping development-oriented, people-oriented, people-centric and national upliftment at the centre.
“It is one thing for the capitalist side to protest against the economic policy in a hushed voice, but they cannot criticize the policies much,” Oli said. He said that the UML has put forward the policy of keeping the market open and making the state accountable.
Claiming that there has been ‘regression’ in the country, Oli said that although the party has suffered some setbacks, it could rise above it and move forward.
“There is regression in the country, there has been a setback. But our party has moved ahead with such a great purpose. Therefore, let’s not get entangled in petty things, don’t get entangled in ego, don’t get entangled. Let’s move forward with an open mind for the great purpose,” he said.
He said that even if there are setbacks, one can rise from the setbacks and move forward on the path of success.
Chairman Oli urged the newly appointed central members to play a leadership role and establish themselves as ‘ideal persons’ in the society. He also directed them not to misbehave with anyone and stay away from wrong conduct.
He urged them to give up the habit of getting angry and said that they should avoid misdeeds. “Keep the habit of anger in the toilet of the house. We should avoid misdeeds, because we are UML,” Oli said.
