We will strongly raise the issues of disaster and climate change in Nepal in the IPU General Assembly: Speaker Aryal

. Speaker DP Aryal has said that Nepal’s disaster and climate change impacts will be raised at the international level in the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Legislative Union (IPU).

At a press conference organized before leaving for the IPU General Assembly on Friday, Speaker Aryal said that Nepal would present the issue in the international forum that Nepal has suffered huge losses due to climate change despite its negligible role in carbon emission. He said, “This is indeed an opportunity for us to show, explain and share the current catastrophe of Nepal with the world at the international level.”

According to him, the IPU is an important international forum representing the parliaments of 183 countries around the world. He said that as the parliamentarians and parliamentarians from all over the world will participate there, Nepal will get an opportunity to take its issues to the international debate.

Speaker Aryal said that he would draw the attention of the speakers and parliamentarians of the world on the damage caused by climate change. He said, “This is an important forum for the speakers of the world and the parliamentarians to raise this debate on climate change.” He said that Nepal is also preparing to present an emergency agenda in the IPU General Assembly. He said that if the proposal is approved, efforts will be made to take it to the general debate.

“We are presenting an emergency agenda this year. This is a new practice that Nepal has to do in the history of the IPU,” he said, “If that agenda is passed, we will take it to the general debate and put it as an important issue, which we will put as the agenda of the IPU.” Speaker Aryal said that discussions are also being held with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this issue. He said that the international debate will start only after Nepal can make its issue heard in the international forum.

He said, “I think that listening is important first and foremost. It is our understanding that after listening, the debate will start. Speaker Aryal also said that he did not feel that the parliament was weak. He said that since the parliament is a place for lawmakers to speak and raise the issues of the people, all parties have been given an opportunity to focus on the issues and discuss the issues.

Speaker Aryal said that it was his experience that the ruling and opposition parties had discussed the issues by focusing on the issues. According to him, the top leaders of each party were given the opportunity to raise the issues of the people from the rostrum twice a month.

On the issue of shifting to the new Parliament building, Speaker Aryal said that he was confident that the upcoming Parliament, House of Representatives and National Assembly would be operated from the new building. He said that if the construction work is not completed on time, the concerned body will have to impose a fine.

He said, “My statement is that in our development, any construction and development should be done on time and I also suggest that the body that should impose the fine should impose a fine.” “

Regarding the work of the government and the role of the parliament, Speaker Aryal said that it is the responsibility of lawmakers, citizens and journalists to shake the executive.
