After the promulgation of the constitution, there was a lot of game of forming and toppling the government: Former Prime Minister Bhattarai

Kathmandu Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that the political parties in Nepal cannot remain confined to the old format.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress here today, Bhattarai said that the world was witnessing rapid development in the 21st century and it was necessary to understand Nepal’s political context accordingly. He said, “Now that we are in the 21st century, the miraculous development that has taken place in the world does not allow the political parties to stick to their previous pattern.”

Therefore, it is necessary to understand the international and national context of the kind of political upheaval that is taking place in Nepal. He said that even after 12 years of the promulgation of the constitution, he was focused on the game of forming and toppling the government.

‘It has been 12 years since the constitution was promulgated. After that, we were only involved in the game of making and toppling the government. We could not go in the direction of economic prosperity. There was dissatisfaction among the people. The revolt that took place last year, some people say that foreigners caused it. But we do not blame others, mainly because of us. Why couldn’t we give dreams to our children?” he said.

Bhattarai said that the constitution made with great sacrifice should not be tampered with in various pretexts. He said that if necessary, it could be added to the constitution.
