process to elect new leadership in NC: Filing of candidacy from 1 pm
Kathmandu The form for the registration of candidacy for the new working committee under the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress is being distributed today.
According to Raju Katuwal, member secretary of the Central Election Committee, the forms are being distributed for the candidates and the registration will start from 1 pm. A total of 7,114 general convention delegates from across the country will elect a new leadership.
The Election Committee has set up its office at the National Assembly Hall and has started the distribution of candidacy forms and registration of candidacy.
The list of convention delegates is pasted on the inner wall of the National Assembly Hall. The candidate can file his candidacy by paying the prescribed amount to the employees of the Prabhu Bank inside the auditorium and taking the receipt.
The Congress has increased the size of the Central Working Committee from 167 to 297 members. On Monday, the amended statute was passed to increase the number of office-bearers from 14 to 26.
According to the new system, one senior vice-president and one woman vice-president have been added. The number of vice-presidents has gone up to four. The number of general secretaries has been increased to three. A woman general secretary has been made mandatory.
Two open joint general secretaries have been added. With this, the number of joint general secretaries has reached 11. The post of spokesperson has also been added. The party has said that the number of joint spokespersons will be increased on the basis of need.
Earlier, in the 14th general convention, the Central Working Committee of the Congress was 167 members. The number of office bearers was 14.
