Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and physician Dr. Santosh Upadhyay has said that he has filed his candidacy for the post of General Secretary representing the younger generation in the 15th General Convention.
Talking to Nepal News Bank, he said that he has filed his candidacy representing the entire youth generation, saying the presence of youths at the party’s office-bearers is weak.
“We have included members under 35 years of age, but in the party of BP Koirala, who has been the Prime Minister for 35 years and 34 years, the youth have not come to the office-bearers. Therefore, I have filed my candidacy for the post of general secretary this time, representing the entire youth,” he said.
Upadhyay said that the presence of youths in the leadership of the NC is necessary as the people may not like it while repeating the old face. Saying that medical experience should be used in politics, he stressed that experts and experts should come into politics. He said he had faced emergencies as a doctor and needed leadership that could understand the people’s sentiments.
‘I have faced emergency situations, I have closely observed people’s lives and deaths. Therefore, I think I understand more emotions. And now we need a leadership that can understand the sentiments of the people, so I think my candidacy is the most meaningful,” he said.
He claimed that his victory was to raise awareness about the leadership of the youth in the Congress through his candidacy.
