Sharma, who has filed his candidacy for the post of general secretary, said, “Seeing the enthusiasm, the cadres want to win the election.” Dr. Sunil Sharma, who is the candidate for the post of general secretary in the open category in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress, has said that he has maintained a clean image and has been working for the interest of the party and democracy for a long time.
Speaking at the election campaign program at the City Hall on Wednesday, Dr Sharma claimed that the main basis of his candidacy was that he was not involved in corruption and was directly connected with the people.
“Every Nepali citizen wants a leader who does not indulge in corruption,” he said, adding, “I am a leader with a clean image.” “I have not received a single rupee salary and allowance even when I was a lawmaker and I did not fly to Biratnagar with a Buddha Air ticket from the Nepal government,” he said. “
He claimed that he has been continuously working in the health and education sectors and has been directly connecting with the people of different geographies of the country.
Sharma said that the Nepali Congress has been working in the interest of democracy and the party since the time of Girija Prasad Koirala. He claimed that he had also played a role in the political process that led to the 12-point agreement.
Stating that the delegates of the general convention are not ordinary cadres, Dr. Sharma said that they have come as representatives after a long political experience and struggle.
He said, “This is probably the first time since 2004 that the atmosphere in favour of the office-bearers in the Congress convention has been enthusiastic so far.” Sharma claimed that he was not in the list of top leaders of the party and was not in any faction. He said that he was a candidate who “wants to be defeated by the heads but the workers want to win”.
He expressed confidence that the delegates from all over the country would decide on his candidacy and support him.
