Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made public 15 issues including climate diplomacy, additional support from Australia, post-flood recovery, passport service reform and bilateral relations with various countries.

s Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri briefed about the new services launched by the Ministry from Nepal’s participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Australia has pledged an additional $
15 million for relief and rehabilitation in the Bhotekoshi River following the devastating floods.
Australia has already donated 11 million Australian dollars.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Sishir Khanal and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong held talks on tourism, energy, agriculture, education, labour and immigration, direct air connectivity and climate change during a meeting held in Melbourne on October 8.
The Ministry has set up a Climate Diplomacy Branch to raise the issue of climate change effectively.
During the United Nations General Assembly, Nepal stressed on climate justice, climate finance, technology transfer and capacity building. Preparations are also underway for Nepal’s high-level participation in COP31 to be held in Antalya, Turkey from November 9 to 20, said Spokesperson Chhetri. Preparations have also been made for the second edition of the Sagarmatha Sambad.
After the Bhotekoshi floods, the government has decided to give priority to rehabilitation and reconstruction in other areas except for the places where urgent search and rescue needs to be done. A meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held on October 19 directed the concerned authorities to carry out works accordingly, the ministry said.
Bilateral consultations between Nepal and Russia discussed the problems of Nepalis recruited in the Russian Army. Similarly, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare discussed the expansion of economic, labor, consular and cultural and educational relations between Nepal and Oman.
Spokesperson Chhetri said that necessary
coordination is underway to open the Tatopani-Jhangmu and Liji-Korala border points between Nepal and China.
The passport service has now been implemented for the passport service of Nepalese citizens from any district. More than
two lakh passports have been issued since the new passport system was introduced. According to the ministry, a new procedure has been issued to manage the details of stolen and lost passports.
Similarly, so far, 18,749 people have availed services through the Nepal e-Attestation System and 45,920 documents have been verified. According to the ministry, more than one lakh users are using the ‘Mofa Mitra’ app, which has been launched to register complaints related to insurance and compensation related to those stranded abroad.
More than 800 written documents from the 13th to 20th centuries have been handed over to Nepal for the preservation of Nepal’s historical heritage. Likewise, on the occasion of the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Brazil, the two foreign ministers exchanged congratulatory messages.
The ministry also said that discussions with India on trade, transit, water resources and air routes are underway, Nepal has presented a proposal on Bhotekoshi floods and climate change at the 153rd meeting of the IPU and has given consent to Bhutan’s proposed candidate for the post of 16th Secretary General of SAARC. Apart from this, the Ministry has also launched an Instagram handle to make public diplomatic information and activities.
