Kathmandu. The counting of votes for the post of joint general secretaries and women central members has begun under the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress.
The counting of votes for joint general secretaries (women) and central members (women) is underway at the party’s central office, Sanepa, according to the election committee. The counting of votes is taking place in 6 different places. Nine candidates are in the fray for the post of joint general secretary. Two of them will be elected. The candidates are Ajay Babu Shiwakoti, Amrit Kumar Aryal, Devendra Raj Kandel, Dilliram Subedi, Bikash Koirala, Bimal Raj Chhetri, Ramesh Prasad Dhamala, Ramhari Khatiwada and Rajiv Dhungana. Nanumaiya Bastola and Pratima Gautam are vying for the post of joint general secretary. There are 36 candidates vying for 15 candidates in the women’s open category. Among them, Akala Gurung, Anita Devkota, Indira Chaulagain, Uma Dahal, Urmila Thapaliya, Kalpana Tiwari, Kantika Sejuwal, Kusumdevi Thapa, Ganga Dahal, Ganga Shahi, Gandaki Thapa Adhikari, Geeta Satyal, Chini Pokhrel (Chinu), Jamuna Dhakal, Tulsi Devkota, Dhana Kumari Khatiwada, Namrata Baral, Nima Giri and Nirmala Chhetri are in the race. Similarly, Nirmala Tamang Basnet (
Niru), Pabitra Kumari Aryal, Bhagwati Kafle Bhandari, Bhawani Devkota, Binita Khadka, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Basana Thapa, Muna Bhusal, Modati KC, Yasmin Dhungana, Radhika Katuwal, Rita Thapa Magar, Rita Sen Oli, Laxmi Pandey, Samjhana Khatri, Sumitra Kumari Bam and Srijana Adhikari are also in the committee.
