On the second day of Dashain, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped
. On the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini, the second form of Navratri, is worshipped.
On the day of Ashwin Shukla Pratipada, Dashain started with the worship of Shailputri on the first day by performing Ghatasthapana according to the Vedic rituals and placing the jamara. Today, special worship is done by invoking Goddess Brahmacharini in the places of worship and Dashain houses.
There is a tradition of reciting Durga Saptashati (Chandi), Shrimad Devi Bhagavatam and other devotional hymns throughout Navratri at the place where Ghatasthapana is located. There is a religious belief that Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped as the power that makes all beings of the world aware of Brahma in the form of Satchidananda. It is a popular belief that by sincerely worshipping the Goddess, one attains power, prosperity and knowledge.
On this occasion, the state is performing ritualistic puja at the historic Dashain Ghar at Hanuman Dhoka in the capital. Today, a large number of devotees have been seen at various Shakti Peeths and Devi temples across the country including the Kathmandu Valley since early morning.
