Kathmandu. Extreme Energy Drinks, which has been aggressively campaigning, has been found to have put up boards in some places of Kathmandu Metropolitan City against the standards.
Such boards have been found in various places of Singamgal, Old Baneshwor and Ward No. 31 of Kathmandu. Although the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has implemented certain standards while advertising commercials in its area, Extreme Energy Drinks has not removed such boards.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Information Officer Noornidhi Neupane said that the metropolis has removed the unauthorized boards of the city’s business identity. He said that the concerned ward office will immediately remove such unauthorized boards. “The concerned ward gives permission to keep boards other than digital. Please understand the necessary issues there,” he said.
Suresh Sahu Shrestha, ward secretary of Metropolitan City-31, said that the board cannot be installed without permission. Meanwhile, Dikshya Thapa of Extreme Energy Drinks said that they have removed all the boards in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the campaign to install the boards has been postponed for the time being. She said, “For the time being, we have stopped the installation of the boards. We will be involved in publicity only in the upcoming NPL.”
“
The metropolis has set certain criteria for setting up hoarding boards as per the Finance Act 2079. The metropolis has been collecting revenue under 36 headings including property tax, house rent, business tax, advertisement tax, entertainment tax, land tax, value added tax and vehicle tax.
