Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has directed the newly appointed police officers to carry out their duties in a way that the citizens feel peace and security without any kind of pressure or influence.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of Police Inspector Basic Training 1-184th Group held at the National Police Training Academy Maharajgunj on Monday, Prime Minister Shah said morality, integrity and honesty are the main criteria for professional success.

“The first standard for any professional success is morality, integrity and honesty,” he said, adding, “Proper adherence to the constitution, prevailing laws, rules, procedures and standards while maintaining professional conduct and discipline will help in achieving success.” He said that accountability towards responsibility is an essential condition for all those involved in the police service.

The Prime Minister reminded that the Nepal Police would always be in the forefront to maintain peace and order in the country, investigate crimes and protect the life and property of the citizens in times of crisis. Cautioning the police officers to maintain the dignity of the organization, he said, “Your good deeds will build a good future. I am sure that you will not come under any pressure or influence and will not indulge in activities of personal interest against the protocol of the organization.” Stating that the nature and tendency of crime have changed with the changing times, he pointed out that the proper use of information technology is essential for impartial, factual, scientific and evidence-based investigation of crime. The government was committed to providing all resources required for technology-friendly and effective research, he said.

Congratulating the police inspectors who are entering the field after completing the 16-month-long basic training, he urged them to put the knowledge and skills gained from the training into full practice. He also thanked the academy for sending their children to the challenging service.

Likewise, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said the Nepal Police has always been working in the forefront for the security of the citizens despite facing many challenges in its seven decades long history. He said that the organization has efficiently fulfilled its responsibility of protecting life and property even in the midst of political changes, conflict and disaster.
