Reminding that transparency and accountability are the basic pillars of democracy, the NC has said that questions raised publicly about the source of wealth of ministers should be taken seriously. “The latest case related to the Home Minister has raised serious questions not only on public interest but also on political morality and transparency,” the statement said. ’

Expressing apprehension that he might affect the investigation process while holding the post concerned, the NC has demanded the government to ensure environment conducive to make the investigation ineffective. “Immediately initiate an independent, impartial and high-level investigation into all allegations against the Home Minister,” the statement reads. ’

The NC has made it clear that this demand is not targeted at any particular person or party but an attempt to reform the entire political culture and institutionalize the politics of morality.
