Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that conspiracy was hatched in the ‘Genji Movement’ that took place on September 7 and 24, 2082. Speaking at a programme organised to mark the establishment day of the NCP at Chyasal on Wednesday, he said that the conspiracy was hatched to create havoc on September 24.
He said that the current results were due to the party’s failure to establish its opinion among the people on the issue. He congratulated the side that achieved success in the election and said that he respected the people’s mandate. He said, “We have suffered this result today because we have not been able to establish among the people the belief of our party that there was a conspiracy in the Jenji movement that took place on September 23 and 24 and on the basis of that conspiracy there was destruction on the 24th.” Those who have achieved success today, we have respected the people’s mandate. We congratulate those who have achieved success. We have also wished the people to work on the basis of people’s mandates. ’
Pokharel claimed that the developments that have been made public in a short span of time have proved the apprehensions expressed by his party to be correct. Referring to the allegations of failure to maintain good governance, he said that the assets of UML leaders and cadres should be investigated and the assets of the leaders in the government should also be investigated. He claimed that the facts show that the leaders and cadres of the party are honest and that attempts were being made to defame the party among the people by levelling various allegations against it. He also said that the UML has distanced itself from the people due to misinformation and misuse of technology.
He said, “In a short time, as the scenes are coming out, our apprehensions are proving to be true.” They were accused of failing to maintain good governance, let’s investigate the assets of our leaders who have been in power for a long time. Let’s investigate the assets of the leaders in the government who have been made public. Facts show that no one else has as honest as the CPN-UML leaders and cadres in the matter of good governance. However, today we are being stigmatized in front of the people in many ways. Today, because of this kind of misinformation, the attitude that has been created in a way that affects the psychology of the people through a kind of misuse of information and technology, is the reason why the public opinion is moving away from us. ’
