Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has pledged to remain connected with the voters and development issues of the constituency despite being defeated in Sarlahi constituency-4 in the 2082 House of Representatives elections.
Thapa, who had come to Sarlahi in the parliamentary election held on March 4, had returned to Kathmandu after getting hints of defeat. Addressing a voters’ thanks and ‘Root Campaign’ program organized at Dhankaul of Sarlahi-4 on Wednesday, Thapa said that many leaders and cadres and well-wishers were emotional after his defeat. He also expressed gratitude to all the voters and party rank and file for their support, goodwill and support.
“A lot of my friends cried when I lost. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders and cadres and voters who have shown goodwill and support to me,” he said. I will always be with you for the development and future victory of Sarlahi-4. ’
President Thapa said his team has forwarded study and plans for the improvement of education, health, agriculture and irrigation sectors as per the commitments made before the elections. “My team had already started study and research for the development of education, health, agriculture and irrigation sectors before the election,” he said, adding, “Now, based on the conclusion, works will be forwarded in a planned manner.” ’
He said that although he could not be elected to the House of Representatives, he would continue to be active as the representative of the people of Sarlahi-4. “Though I will not be in the House of Representatives for the next five years, I will do my best as a representative of this constituency respecting the trust reposed in me by some 23,000 voters,” he said. ’
Thapa said that although he has the nation-wide responsibility as the president of the main opposition party, he would pay special attention to the constituency in which he contested.
