Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has urged the government not to limit the constitution amendment issue to the government taskforce. Speaking at the special hour of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, lawmaker KC pointed out the need for wider and inclusive discussion on the sensitive issue of constitution amendment.
KC also demanded a powerful mechanism to make the constitution amendment process fair and acceptable to all.
He said, “The debate on constitution amendment should not be limited to the government taskforce only. For this, it is necessary to form a powerful all-party commission in coordination with the former Chief Justice comprising constitutional experts, political parties, administrative experts and civil society representatives. ’
He stressed the need of organizing a ’round table conference’ to make the amendment process successful in view of the country’s current political complexities, global conflict and social polarization.
