Kathmandu. Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has urged Nepalis living abroad to avail consular service through the ‘Mofa Mitra’ mobile app. Addressing the launch of the mobile app ‘Mofa Mitra’ organised by the Department of Consular Services here today, Minister Pokharel expressed his confidence that the app would be effective in making public service more easy and citizen-friendly.
“The work of consular service has increased as people going abroad for work do not have information about the rules and laws of the country where they have gone,” he said, “This service will also be helpful in providing any information to the relatives of those who are abroad.” ‘
This service has reached all 77 District Administration Offices and all diplomatic missions abroad.
It was also informed that legal services have now reached 500 local levels. Minister Khanal said that the service would be extended to all local levels in the coming fiscal year.
The online application can be easily submitted through the ‘Mofa Mitra’ mobile app. An arrangement has been made in the app to get additional help from the concerned missions. He also expressed his commitment that the service started with the goal of increasing access to service through technology will continue to expand with the development of technology.
In addition to Nepalis living in India informally, 50 lakh Nepalis have gone abroad for various services.
Complaints can also be made by downloading the mobile app on the issue of difficulty.
Director General of the Department, Durpada Sapkota, said that the app will be used to protect the rights and interests of Nepalis living abroad and to get help in times of difficulty.
He also said that it was linked to the app and mobile system. It is believed that the app will be easy for the management of dead bodies, compensation, insurance claims and so on. This app will be effective as the number of Nepalis going abroad is increasing.
Nabin Kumar Jha, Information Technology Officer at the Department, said that the mobile app has been launched targeting Nepali citizens abroad.
Information Technology Officer Jha said that after updating the service from the mobile app, arrangements have been made to go to the concerned mission. Arrangements have been made to see what happens after applying through the app.
