Kathmandu. CPN-UML lawmaker Ain Bahadur Mahar has objected to the Prime Minister’s address to the House of Representatives. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives today, MP Mahar said although the Prime Minister expressed respect for the topic he wanted to address in the House, he stressed that the constitution and the House of Representatives Regulations should be followed.
According to him, Rule 56 (3) and (4) of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 BS clearly states that a question should be registered at least three days before the question and answer session with the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister should answer it.
“We are not above the constitution and regulations. Neither the Speaker, Prime Minister nor the honorable member is allowed to be above the law, I would like to express respect to the Honorable Prime Minister who wants to address the House. I want to file my complaints. Sub-rule 3 and 4 of Rule 56 of the House of Representatives Regulations 2079 clearly states that the Prime Minister should not violate such rules as it has been very clearly explained that the Prime Minister should file questions for three days in the question and answer session with the Prime Minister. Written questions of the members may be taken. ’
He urged the Prime Minister not to act against the regulation and to forward the questions registered in writing by the lawmakers as per the process. He also demanded that the question-answer session with the Prime Minister should be conducted as per the regulation.
