Kathmandu. Former Finance Minister and CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bishnu Prasad Poudel has been arrested. The Department of Money Laundering arrested Poudel from Surkhet.
According to the department, he was arrested in connection with the investigation of the suspicious source of his share trading and assets. Poudel has been arrested and further investigation is underway, police said.
Poudel was in Surkhet for a party programme. The UML is collecting suggestions for party restructuring in all the provinces. He was arrested from the venue and has been kept at the District Police Office.
Preparations are underway to bring him to Kathmandu either by air or by land, according to sources.
