Kathmandu. Electricity is now being transmitted from the 220 kV Marki Chowk-Bharatpur transmission line. Minister for Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources Biraj Bhakta Shrestha initiated the power supply from 3:00 pm on Saturday, according to the Energy Ministry.

Minister Shrestha had taken the initiative for the operation of the Markichowk-Bharatpur 220 KV transmission line. He interacted with the people’s representatives and locals of the local level.

Power supply to people upto Kohalpur via Chitwan, Hetauda and Butwal will be easy with the operation of the 220 kV transmission line.

“This would make regional electricity transmission more balanced, reliable and effective. The transmission line will play an important role in reducing the problem of tripping and power outage,” Minister Shrestha said.

He said that it would be a big help to connect all the electricity generated by the private sector-operated hydropower projects to the national grid via Bharatpur especially during the rainy season. Minister Shrestha said that the compulsion to operate the power house in less capacity will also be removed.

According to the ministry, the clean energy, which could not be utilized with the successful collaboration between the private sector and the government, will now be integrated more effectively into the national system. “This is another important step in Nepal’s journey towards energy self-reliance and prosperity,” he added.

Power is being transmitted from New Marsyangdi substation of Tanahu to New Bharatpur substation at Anptari of Chitwan through 220 kV double circuit transmission line.
