. Bollywood actor Pradeep Rawat has passed away. Veteran actor Rawat, best known for his role as the villain ‘Ghajini Dharmatma’ in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini, has died due to cancer.
Rawat, who was battling cancer for a long time, died at the age of 74 on Tuesday evening at a hospital in Mumbai.
According to his manager Siddharth R Tiwari, Rawat was undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Kokilaven Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for the last one month.
He was recently shifted to Bhiwandi Cancer Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Kalyani Rawat and son Vikramaditya Rawat. After the news of his death came out, the Indian film industry took to social media to pay tribute to him.
Actor Yespal Sharma, who has collaborated in the film ‘Lagaan’, has expressed grief by writing ‘Heartfelt tribute to our Ghajini Deva Pradeep Rawat’ on social media.
Actor Gajendra Chauhan also paid tribute to Rawat and remembered his role as Ashwatthama in the Mahabharata.
Known as a powerful villain in the Indian film industry, Rawat has acted in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil language films.
He played notable roles in successful films such as Sarfaros, Cubbachaykaz, Lagaan, Nayak and Ghajini. Rawat’s last film was Chabha, in which he played the role of Yasaji Kank. He has also acted in Nepali movies starring Paul Shah and Bipana Thapa. Rawat’s contribution to Indian cinema as an actor who portrayed villains in a powerful way will be remembered by the audience for a long time. ANI
