Kailali. Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah said the provincial government was committed to creating an environment where farmers would get easy return as per their investment.
He said this while inaugurating the seed processing and storage house building constructed by the Farmers Multipurpose Cooperatives Limited at Kauwapur of Lamkichuha Municipality-4 in Kailali district on Wednesday.
Stating that a majority of the population was involved in agriculture, he said the government was active to create agro-friendly environment.
On a different note, he expressed sorrow over some obstacles seen in the operation of the provincial hospital at Lamkichuha and said that the state government was ready to run a model provincial hospital if necessary support was received from the local level.
He also informed that preparations are underway to conduct practical classes at Lamkichuha Provincial Hospital, Seti Provincial Hospital and Mahakali Hospital. Meanwhile, the parliamentary party leader of the then ruling CPN-UML, Rajendra Singh Rawal, accused the Chief Minister of allocating more than Rs 5 billion in his constituency and challenged him to confirm it. The seed processing and storage house constructed by the Kisan Multipurpose Cooperatives Limited was constructed with the help of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Directorate of Agriculture Development under the Far-Western Provincial Government. The purchase and installation of seed processing machinery was completed under the Agro-Produce Industries Establishment Program. The total agreement amount of the project is Rs 34.57 lakh, out of which the tender approved amount has been set at Rs 34.30 lakh.
The Directorate of Agricultural Development has provided Rs 17.15 lakh in grant while the remaining Rs 28.15 lakh has been borne by the cooperatives. According to the organization, the actual cost has been slightly higher than the agreement.
The project was signed on April 22, 2083 and started on May 26, 2073 and was completed on June 29, 2083.
