Kathmandu. The meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee held discussions on the current situation, current issues, challenges and future action plan of the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene. During the discussion, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene, Dr. Dr Bikash Devkota said that the government has adopted a policy of gradually reducing the collaboration with the private sector if the service of the government health institutions is improved.
Secretary Devkota said that if the government hospital could provide effective service, it would be easy to provide service to around seven percent of the population.
He said, “If we make the government service better, it is seven percent less. We have taken the policy that if we can provide seven percent more service, we can make it better in government institutions. That’s why it’s on private hold. I’m not trying to do this forever. ’
He said that so far there has been no problem with the system.
According to Secretary Devkota, the monthly expenditure related to health service has decreased. Earlier, the monthly expenditure was around Rs 2 billion, which has now come down to Rs 880 million.
“Our expenditure was Rs 2 billion per month. Now it’s down to a little over a billion. It has come down to Rs 88 crore. Those who get the service are getting it. What’s the use of not getting less?”
Secretary Devkota said that the issue of suspension of payment has been raised in the media time and again, adding that all the payments have been cleared till mid-January. He said that the verification process for the payment of the last six months is underway.
