Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) demands the government to give priority to the search for the missing elderly couple in Sunkoshi
Kathmandu.Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Badan Bhandari has urged the government to give top priority to the search for an elderly couple who went missing in the Sunkoshi River at Mandandeupur of Kavrepalanchowk district.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, he urged the government to make the search for Kedarnath Parajuli, 68, of Mandandeupur Municipality-7 and his 67-year-old wife Dil Kumari Parajuli more effective.
Mandandeupur Ward No. Kedarnath Parajuli, 68, and Dil Kumari Parajuli, 67, of Ward No. 7, who were suffering from bone marrow cancer, went missing after jumping into the Sunkoshi River after reaching the Dolaleshwar temple in Dolalghat. They are being searched. The Government of Nepal should take it forward with special priority. Teams from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and locals have been mobilised to search for them. I strongly demand that their condition be ascertained immediately,” he said.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Bhandari said the government should be responsible to the people.
‘Even if the elderly parents disappear, the government should not disappear. The problem of bone marrow cancer is becoming very complicated. In Nepal, it seems to be treated in a limited number of government hospitals, especially civil hospitals. Access to treatment and state support for such patients needs to be made more effective,” he said.
He also pointed out the need for the government to intensify the search for the disappeared couple and pay attention to the treatment and social security of the people suffering from serious diseases.
