Janakpur. The moneylenders have taken out a massive protest rally in Janakpurdham.
More than
seven hundred moneylenders from all eight districts of Madhes Province staged a demonstration in front of the District Administration, District Police and District Court Office, Dhanusha.
They took out a protest rally in Janakpurdham chanting slogans like ‘Repeal the 9-point agreement’, ‘Death to the Home Minister’, ‘Repay the loan’.
Speaking on the occasion, Bijay Yadav, chairperson of the Victim Investors Transaction Struggle Committee, Madhes Province, said that the agitation would be stronger.
He informed that the moneylenders of all the 8 districts will leave for Kathmandu on 1. According to him, they are scheduled to stage sit-in in front of Singha Durbar and Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu for an indefinite period.
Chairman Yadav said that the nine-point agreement signed by the Nepal government with the meter interest victims a few days ago was only two-sided, so they have demanded that a tripartite agreement should be reached between the three parties.
He said it was unfair to label all investors as “meter-interested” because of some borrowers. He accused the government of creating an environment where the government would not directly repay the loan given at the time of need.
During the protest, the moneylenders had burnt a nine-point agreement in front of the District Administration Office.
