Kathmandu. Kathmandu Budhanilkantha School is running a different campaign. The campaign kicked off by establishing a ‘Knowledge Park’ with the slogan ‘Learning and Earning with Fun’ focuses on the production of fresh vegetables.

The school has been producing fresh vegetables by operating ‘Budhanilkantha School Horticulture Farm’ with the objective of ‘learning, learning, having fun and earning’.

 

The school has engaged the students in agriculture and the vegetables they produce are used in their food.

Being a residential school, the vegetables produced by the students are mostly used for the students. The rest of the vegetables are sold through wholesalers.

The students spend an hour a day in vegetable farming.

According to the school, they spend more time on public holidays including Saturdays. 

Local cucumber is being sold at Rs 100 per kg in the school while the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee is selling cucumber for a minimum of Rs 40 for Friday.

 

Bitter gourd sells bitter gourd for Rs 80 per kg while Kalimati sells bitter gourd for Rs 40. Budhanilkantha School sells Farsi Munta for Rs 150 per kg.

In Kalimati, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 60 while Budhanilkantha School is selling tomatoes for Rs 25. In particular, the school has been selling vegetables to locals and parents.
