. KATHMANDU — Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has said inclusion should not be limited only to slogans but should be seen in practice as an equal access to state policies, plans, resources and means.
He stressed on the need to ensure the rights and representation of marginalized, oppressed and marginalized communities, including indigenous peoples, more effectively.
Speaking at a program organized to mark the 32nd International Day of the World’
s Indigenous Peoples at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Sunday, Vice President Yadav said that proportional representation of all communities including indigenous nationalities should be further strengthened in education, employment, state governance and decision-making.
He said, “Inclusion should not be limited to slogans but should be seen as equal access to the policies, plans, resources and means of the state.”
Proportional representation of all marginalized, oppressed and marginalized communities, including indigenous nationalities, must be strengthened at every level of education, employment and decision-making. “
{{}} Vice President Yadav said the role of the new generation was important in preserving the language, culture, tradition and original identity of the indigenous nationalities.
He said that the concerned organizations including the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities should take more initiatives to make the younger generation responsible towards their own traditions and culture. Stating that the Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed the rights of all marginalized, oppressed and marginalized communities including indigenous nationalities, he stressed the practical implementation of the constitutional provisions. He said that the rights guaranteed by the constitution should not be limited to paper but should be implemented in practice through the state’s policies and programmes.
He was of the view that the trust of the State would be further strengthened only through the effective implementation of the rights.
Vice President Yadav said the country could make positive stride in every sector if the federal democratic republican governance system was further strengthened.
He stressed the need of ensuring inclusive representation and equal opportunity at all levels of the state as per the spirit of federalism.
He said, “In today’s context, it is necessary for the federation to take initiative to make the younger generation responsible towards their own traditions and culture.”
The practical implementation of the constitution is the need of the hour as it has ensured the rights of all marginalized, oppressed and marginalized communities, including indigenous nationalities. The country can make positive strides in every sector if it can move ahead by further strengthening the federal democratic republican governance system. ’
