Home Minister Gurung and Industry Minister Yadav hold joint discussion with lawmakers on latest Madhes development
Kathmandu.KATHMANDU — Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav and Home Minister Sudhan Gurung held a joint discussion with lawmakers of various political parties in Madhes province today.
During the discussion that lasted for about
two hours at the Home Ministry, the latest tension in Madhes Province, the reasons for it, the misleading materials circulating through social media and the measures to be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the coming days were discussed.
During the discussion, most of the lawmakers said that the misleading and provocative videos circulating on social media have further provoked public anger and have also played a role in intensifying the agitation.
They also stressed on the need for the state bodies to be more aware and responsible to control misinformation and misleading materials disseminated through social media.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party) Madhes Province President and lawmaker Tapeshwar Yadav praised the role played by Home Minister Gurung in easing the latest situation in Madhes.
He said the situation is gradually easing due to the active participation of the Home Minister.
Likewise, Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) lawmaker Poonam Agrawal proposed to ease the restrictions seen at the border.
She was of the view that an environment should be created for the general public to bring daily essentials worth five hundred to thousand rupees from the bordering areas.
On the occasion, Home Minister Gurung thanked all the political parties and parliamentarians for their cooperation to bring the latest situation in Madhes province under control.
He stressed on the need for all political parties to come together to prevent such agitation and tension in Madhes in the coming days.
Nepali Congress lawmaker Rekha Yadav also praised Home Minister Gurung’s activism in addressing the situation seen in Madhes province.
She was of the view that all political parties should stand together to stop the activities taking place in the name of religion to disturb the political and social harmony.
The lawmakers who participated in the discussion stressed the need of continuous coordination among the political parties, government and people’s representatives to maintain social and religious harmony in Madhes. The discussion is centered on resolving the tense activities seen in Madhes of late through dialogue, collaboration and mutual understanding to prevent such incidents from recurring in the coming days.
