. KATHMANDU, Feb. 13: The lower level employees of Nepal Police have demanded the government to implement the provision of voluntary retirement along with pension after completing 16 years of service.
According to them, the demands that have been raised by employees from jawans to senior constables for a long time should be addressed through amendment to the Police Act and Regulations.
According to them, the issue of 16-year pension has not been implemented legally despite repeated discussions and assurances.
According to them, the lower level police personnel have to be on duty for 24 hours and have to carry out difficult and risky responsibilities for a long time, so there is a need for a provision to retire with dignity after completing 16 years of service. According to the current provision, one has to complete 20 years of service to get voluntary retirement with pension facility.
Some employees may have to resign midway as they will not get pension benefits if they leave the service before the age of 20.
Similarly, they claim that the provision of 16-year voluntary retirement will create opportunities for new manpower, saying that the opportunity for promotion at the lower level is limited and they have to work in the same post for a long time.
They have urged the government to immediately address the demand related to the 16-year pension and implement it legally.
