agency. Drinking a glass of fruit juice or smoothie every day has been shown to have some positive effects on mental health.
According to a small study conducted over four weeks, a healthy diet of fruit juice was significantly reduced by unadulterated depressive scores. This simple change in the normal diet can also help with mental health.
The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Newcastle in the UK, found that a glass of 100 percent fruit juice or smoothie per day can support mental health. The study, which divided participants into different groups, also guided adults who typically eat small amounts of fruits and vegetables to increase their intake.
Some participants were asked to include a glass of fruit juice or a smoothie per day to meet their goal of eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. After four weeks, both groups increased their intake of fruits and vegetables.
However, the group that consumed fruit juice or smoothies had lower depression scores than the other group.
The study, which was conducted in collaboration with the Fruit Juice Science Centre, was published in the British Journal of Nutrition.
Dr Contreni Neill, from the University of Liverpool, said it was difficult for people to meet their goal of eating five servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
According to him, a simple and relatively inexpensive solution, such as a small glass of fruit juice or smoothie per day, can help people meet goals and have potential benefits for mental health.
When the study began, participants were divided into three groups, eating two or fewer portions of fruits and vegetables a day.
But some professors say that while the findings of a decrease in depression scores in participants who drink fruit juice are promising, more research is needed.
According to them, simple dietary changes that increase fruit intake can play a role in supporting mental health.
A four-week study found that incorporating fruit juices or smoothies as part of a healthy diet could increase fruit and vegetable intake and improve the risk of depression. However, only 42 participants in the study and the duration was only four weeks.
Therefore, larger and longer-term research is needed to conclude that fruit juice or smoothies directly reduce depression. (ANI)
