. KATHMANDU: The first edition of the Japanese Education Group Futsal Tournament is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on Sunday.
The tournament is being organized by the Japanese Education Group, which has been providing Japanese language study and counseling, at Baluwakhani Cup On Sports Center in Budhanilkantha Municipality. A total of 10 teams will take part in the tournament.
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of one lakh rupees.
According to the organizers, the participating teams are divided into two groups. Group ‘A’ includes Jyomogang International Consultancy, Osewa Educational Consultancy, Shikata Educational Consultancy, Yukiguni Educational Consultancy and Lomas Abroad Study Pvt Ltd. Similarly, Group
‘B’ includes Ikigai Educational Consultancy, Tirupati HR Solutions Pvt Ltd, Koumyu International Language Academy, Open International Academy Pvt Ltd and New Horizon Migration and Education Pvt Ltd.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The league round matches will last for 14 minutes while the semi-finals and final will last for 15 minutes.
The winner of the tournament will get Rs 75,
000 while the runner-up will get Rs 50,000. The tournament will be officiated by FIFA referee Maya Lama.
Trophies will also be awarded to the best player and best goalkeeper. Arrangements have been made for each team to participate in the competition along with the students as well as the teacher and the conductor.
Roop Singh Tamang, coordinator of the Japanese Education Group, said that the event aims to develop discipline among the students and create a message of hardworking and disciplined youths.
He said that the competition is being organized to combine sports and discipline with studies.
