Guangzhou. Guangzhou – Representatives and NRNA leaders from various countries including Nepal have gathered in Guangzhou to participate in the 11th Asia Pacific Regional Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). The organizers have completed the final preparations to make the conference to be held from August 15 to 17 in a civilized, systematic and grand manner.
Leader of the opposition party in the House of Representatives and Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Basna Thapa, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers Jagadish Kharel, Manish Jha and Khagendra Sunar and CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar have already reached Guangzhou to participate in the conference. UML lawmakers Yubaraj Dulal, Kshitij Thebe, Khusbu Oli and Eren Rai and former lawmakers Surya Pathak and Arun Kumar Subedi are also participating in the conference.
According to the organizers, representatives of various media houses have also been present in the conference.
The parliamentarians participating in different sessions of the conference are scheduled to put forth their views on the issues related to Nepal, the Nepali diaspora and the Diaspora. Founder President of NRNA, Dr.
Upendra Mahato, advisor Bhawani Oli, president Dr. Senior Vice President Robin Sherchan, Vice President Khagendra Neupane, Rojina Pradhan Rai, Mahendra Oli, Dadhiwal Khadka, Rabin Bajracharya, Women Vice-President Tika Gurung and General Secretary Dr. Hemraj Sharma. The central leadership including Chiranjivi Khadka has also reached Guangzhou for the conference.
Similarly, Asia Pacific Regional Coordinator Deepak Kandel, Sub-Regional Coordinator Bhabindra Basnet, Lal Singh Khadka, Rakesh Prasad Mahato and Middle East Regional Coordinator Ramesh Shrestha have also reached the conference venue.
NCC presidents and office-bearers from different countries under the Asia Pacific region are also taking part in the event.
The conference to be held at Crowne Plaza, Guangzhou City Center Hotel will discuss trade and investment promotion in Nepal, development of logistics sector, institutional strengthening of NCC in Asia Pacific region, safe foreign employment, reintegration and rights of migrant workers. Controlling cross-border human trafficking, continuity and rights of Non-Resident Nepali citizenship, Nepal’s tourism promotion through mountaineering and health tourism, women empowerment, identity and leadership development of second generation Nepalis and expansion of NRNA’s global network are the major agendas of the conference. The ‘re-branding’ session with the objective of advancing the organizational identity and future strategy of NRNA in a new way has been seen as the special attraction of the conference.
According to the organizers, discussions will be held on the role, structure and priorities of the Diaspora organization in the changing global context.
After various plenary and thematic sessions, the conference will be formally concluded on August 16 by issuing the Guangzhou Declaration-2026.
Preparations are underway to institutionalize the major questions raised in the conference and the future course of action through the manifesto.
On August 17, the last day of the conference, delegates will be given an observation tour of the famous Gulong Gorge Glass Bridge (Ngyilanhashb) in Qingyuan, about 70-80 kilometers from Guangzhou. The organizing team led by Asia Pacific Regional Coordinator Deepak Kandel said that they have been preparing to organize the conference in a systematic, dignified and effective manner. Priority has been given to the management of participants, conduct of the programmes, coordination of thematic sessions and collaboration between NCC delegates from different countries. The organizers have hoped that the ‘Arohan 2026’ would be wider and more meaningful than the previous conferences with the significant participation of the association’s leaders, office-bearers, representatives, entrepreneurs and stakeholders from various countries of the Asia Pacific region including Nepal. The conference is expected to give a concrete message to further strengthen the relations between the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) in the Asia Pacific region and increase the contribution of the Diaspora to investment, tourism promotion, safe foreign employment and economic prosperity in Nepal.
