Kathmandu. Experts have stressed on the need to be aware as the role of cyber security and artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming prominent in Nepal’s digital economy.
At a cybersecurity and AI-focused dialogue jointly organized by Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Genese Solutions on Tuesday, experts and stakeholders pointed out that AI is becoming an important part of Nepal’s economy. In the program, businessmen and technology professionals and stakeholders expressed the view that emerging technologies can transform institutional resilience, good governance and competitiveness. Niranjan Kunwar, Chief Technology Officer of Genese Solutions, while giving the keynote presentation at the event, said that special attention should be paid to the use of AI, cyber security preparedness and data security. He said that the topic of AI and cyber security is important as every business is becoming digital-friendly. Bhim Dhakal, advisor of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), said that AI should not only be seen as a technical opportunity but also a matter of institutional preparedness, responsible use, and long-term resilience. He also said that it is time to think about the rapid expansion of AI, the increasing reliance on the cloud, and new types of cyber risks, especially for banks and financial institutions.
