People still waiting for rescue in Bhotekoshi floods, my heart is getting impatient: MP Kharel
Kathmandu. The meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee is discussing the impact of the Bhotekoshi flood on the tourism sector. During the discussion, Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Jagadish Kharel said that people are still waiting for rescue in various places due to the Bhotekoshi floods.
Kharel said that some of the flood-affected people may be hoping for rescue even after drinking a little water in tunnels, nooks and crannies.
“Even now, people are waiting for rescue from the Bhotekoshi floods in tunnels, in some nooks and cramps, even if they have a little water,” he said, “My mind is getting impatient thinking that someone is waiting for someone to come and save my life.” He said that dozens of people might still be waiting for rescue in the hope of life. Stating that there has been a huge loss of life due to the floods, he said that more than one thousand bodies have been recovered.
“We are in this situation,” he said. More than
a thousand bodies have been recovered. Many have not been identified. Around 4,000 people are missing. Under the leadership of the Nepal government, we have been able to rescue more than 12,000 people. According to him, about 4,000 people are still missing. Kharel also urged not to create a negative narrative about the disaster. “It does not mean that nothing has happened, a lot is happening. Work is being done day and night. You and all of us are working,” he said.
He stressed on the need to face the floods that have come in an unexpected and unimaginable way together. He also said that foreign nationals were rescued with the same priority as Nepali citizens during the rescue.
