Kathmandu. The search and rescue operation of those trapped inside the tunnel of Trishuli-3 ‘A’ hydropower project has become difficult. Although two people were rescued alive on Friday, the situation has become difficult for further rescue.
According to Binod Shrestha, who is active in the rescue operation, the situation inside the tunnel has become very difficult.
‘ The roads leading to the inside are closed. The kind of ease that was there in the initial phase has become difficult now. We also took photos and videos and saw it. We got verification from the responsible people of all the security agencies. But the situation is getting difficult,” Shrestha said, adding, “We will continue the rescue. We are trying our best.” According to Sanyogi KC, who is active in the rescue operation, the situation inside the tunnel is complicated and submerged. “The underground is full of water and mud. If there were friends on the roof side of the tunnel, we would have had a chance to survive. Otherwise, there is not much hope now. We are not optimistic that he will be alive. If there was death, we are not sure where he is buried. There is more mud than we thought,” KC said, “We are not very optimistic.” A joint team comprising 75 Nepal Army, 18 Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police and experts has been mobilized to rescue the people trapped in the tunnel since Friday morning.
The rescue team rescued two people alive from inside the tunnel and brought them to Shree Birendra Hospital, Chhauni by helicopter for further treatment. They are being treated.
A body was also recovered from the tunnel during the search and rescue operation. Although teams were deployed for the search and rescue of more people, it has been postponed on Friday as it is difficult to rescue them.
