Kathmandu. Mother Rabia Khan has demanded action against the culprits involved in the murder of RB Khan of Nepalgunj-21 in Banke.
Organizing a press conference in the capital on Saturday, she said that the police refused to register the case with the intention of acquitting the culprits even though they had filed a complaint immediately after the murder. According to her mother Rabiya, even after 2.5 years of her son’s murder, the police have complained that the police have not taken the jahiri even when they reached the District Police Office Banke with a complaint to file a case against Meraj Khan, who is said to have been involved in the murder of her son.
After the incident, Meraj Khan’s shirt was found lying in a pool of blood at the spot and on the basis of that, the police refused to take the complaint claiming that there was no evidence. “For two years, the police kept saying that a person named Apjal Pathan was involved in the incident, unless he came in contact, no complaint could be taken,” Rabia said.
Rabia said that they had demanded a complaint against Appjal after he was arrested from India after two years, but when they tried to file a complaint against Meraj as well, they demanded concrete evidence. Fazlur Rehman, uncle of the deceased RB Khan, said that RB was killed in a very inhuman and gruesome manner and demanded that the truth of the incident be investigated and action should be taken against the culprits.
Uncle Rahman said that the police did not take a report in the name of Meraj regarding the murder of the deceased by slitting his throat, removing his intestines from his stomach and gouging out his eyes.
Two years after the incident in March 2080, the police were forced to file a complaint in the name of Ajjal as per their demand rather than the victim and then he was produced before the court. The Banke District Court has sent him to judicial custody for further investigation, but the Tulsipur bench of the Nepalgunj High Court has ordered him to be released on bail citing lack of concrete evidence. He said that although the previous government did not give justice to them, the present Balen government has reached Kathmandu with the hope that justice will be delivered. Journalist Ashish
Malla Thakuri argued that Appjal Pathan had fled to India the day after the incident on the night of March 30, 2008 and Meraj Khan, who was said to have been involved in another incident, also fled after clothes were found at the crime scene.
