State interference and politics destroyed the education system: Former President Dr. Yadav
Kathmandu. Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has said that the entire education system of the country has collapsed due to the politicization that started after the state took full responsibility of education.
On Saturday, P. P. Addressing the award distribution and felicitation ceremony organized by Prasai Foundation, the first President Dr. Yadav recalled that the educational institutions run by the community in the past were excellent and said that the condition of the community schools has been deplorable due to governmentalization and political interference.
He said, “Earlier, the community used to take the responsibility of education. Ram Swaroop Sah in Janakpur and Krishna Prasad Koirala in Biratnagar opened schools with donations, and even brought the best teachers from India. But when the state took responsibility, politics got messed up and the entire education system was ruined. Today, if there are mathematics teachers in community schools, there is no English teacher, if there is English, there is no Nepali teacher. This is the situation. Dr. Yadav expressed serious concern that not a single person from Madhes was selected in the selection of the best teachers in the ceremony. Yadav expressed serious concern. Recalling the history of Madhes teachers reaching the hilly areas of the country to teach mathematics and English, he said that he was saddened by the current situation.
‘When it was Madhes’s turn to distribute the prizes, not a single teacher was selected. When I asked the organizers, they said that the criteria were not met. I was shocked. There was a time when the teachers who taught mathematics and English in the hills across the country used to go from Madhesh, but today the situation there is not even in the criterion,” he said.
Recalling the time of his medical studies, Dr. Yadav narrated the story of the conscientiousness shown by Dr. Haridas Banerjee during the Naxalite movement and unrest of the 70s in Calcutta. Dr. Yadav said that natural disasters have increased in recent times due to climate change and human exploitation, urging them to be aware of environmental protection. Stating that our mountains are collapsing and the world is pushing towards environmental crisis, he pointed out the need to connect the new generation in nature and environment education.
