Kulman Ghising urges government to immediately search and rescue the disappeared
Kathmandu. Chairman of Ujjyalo Nepal Party, Kulman Ghising, has urged the government and concerned agencies to immediately search and rescue the people who are still missing in different areas due to the Bhotekoshi floods.
Speaking at the lamp lighting program organized in Basantapur on Monday evening, Ghising expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members and paid tribute to the bereaved family members. He wished for the speedy recovery of the injured and disabled citizens and said that the missing should be rescued at the earliest.
“We urge the government and the concerned authorities to rescue the Nepali brothers and sisters who are still missing in various places, tunnels and places at the earliest,” Ghising said.
Ghising described the latest disaster as the biggest catastrophic flood in Nepal’s history and said that it caused a huge loss of human lives. He said that a large number of Nepali citizens, including youths, engineers and technicians, have lost their lives in floods and landslides.
‘This is the biggest catastrophic flood in the history of Nepal. Thousands of Nepali brothers and sisters, youth, engineers, technicians have lost their lives. This is indeed one of the most unexpected events in this history,” he said.
He stressed that the state and citizens should all stand together with the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster. He said that by turning grief into strength, we should move forward in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affected areas.
He further said that the risk of natural disasters should be seriously paid while constructing infrastructures, constructing roads and developing settlements to minimize the damage caused by such disasters in the coming days. Ghising pointed out the need to focus not only on relief and rescue after disaster but also on long-term reconstruction and safe infrastructure development.
“In order to avoid such incidents in the future and to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, we have to take these issues into consideration while building infrastructures, constructing roads and developing settlements,” he said.
He stressed on the need of rehabilitating the displaced families in the affected areas, providing support to those who lost their family members and uniting all Nepalis living inside and outside the country for the reconstruction of damaged infrastructures. Learning from the disaster, Ghising urged the government to take special initiatives for the long-term development and prosperity of the affected areas and related corridors. “I urge the government of Nepal to learn from this incident and take special initiatives for the development and prosperity of this region and that corridor,” he said.
