Kathmandu. Spokesperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and lawmaker Jagadish Kharel has said that the inauguration of the statue of Jenji martyr at Martyrs Park in Satdobato has been postponed due to lack of face. <\/p>\n
He said that it would be better to unveil the statue after making necessary corrections rather than inaugurating it immediately after the relatives and families of the martyrs complained that the face of the statue does not match. Talking to media persons on Wednesday, Kharel said that the then government had decided to construct a park in the memory of the Jenji martyrs and the process of construction was started with the help of the private sector. He said that the construction of the park was started with the active support of the then minister Bablu Gupta.<\/p>\n
According to him, about 60 percent of the work from digging the foundation of the park to the construction of the structure and designing the design had already been completed. However, he said that the finalization of the statues of the martyrs is yet to be finalized. <\/p>\n
Kharel said that there should be no hurry now as it is important to match the martyr’s face in the statue with the consent of the martyr’s family and relatives. <\/p>\n
“The statue should be found, which is a martyr. So let’s not rush now,” he said. <\/p>\n
He suggested that the face of the statue should be adjusted in view of the Martyrs’ Day on January 16 and the remaining finishing work of the park should be completed. He said that during this period, the park can be developed in such a way that it can be made more attractive and the feel of Genji Park and Martyrs Park. <\/p>\n
Stating that the statue of Jenji martyr Binod Maharjan built in Patan is exemplary, Kharel said that the statue being constructed in Satdobato should also be made attractive and similar to the real face of the martyr. He said that the then minister Bablu Gupta was aware of the process through which the construction of the park was carried out. He claimed that the park was not a big project and most of the structures have been completed, so the park will be attractive after adjusting the face of the statue and doing some finishing work. Explaining the reason for the construction of the park in Lalitpur, he said that the construction of the park was possible due to the goodwill shown by the local level and the concerned sports body as Lalitpur is his constituency and district. Responding to a query about participating in the program related to martyr’s park and the memorial of Jenji martyrs, Kharel said that anyone can participate in the program of tribute and remembrance as the martyrs are common to all. <\/p>\n
