Martyrs cannot be honored only by building statues: Hiraman Lama <\/strong><\/p>\n
Kathmandu Press Chautari Nepal’s General Secretary Hiraman Lama has accused the process of declaring martyrs in the name of Gen-G movement in a wrong way. Stating that this day should be taken as a ‘black day’ in the history of Nepal, he said that many citizens have been killed and many journalists have also been in trouble on this day. He said that it was wrong for various state agencies to try to institutionalize the Gen-G movement.<\/p>\n Lama made it clear that he has full respect for the youths and children who were martyred during the Gen-G movement.<\/p>\n However, he said that the condition and pain of the families of the martyrs should be addressed instead of making statues in the name of martyrs and honoring them in a sham. “There is no real respect if a statue is built in the name of martyrs,” he said, stressing that the state should pay attention to the martyr’s families complaining that they have not got justice. <\/p>\n He said that it is the first responsibility of the state to provide proper justice, relief and self-respect to the martyr families. Stating that the pain and dissatisfaction of the martyr families will not be addressed by constructing the statue, Lama said that such an act would be an insult to the martyrs themselves.
