The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that rescue and search operations are underway for the 15th day of the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River on September 23. So far, the bodies of 1,367 people have been recovered in the disaster that damaged huge lives, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure in the riverine areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. <\/p>\n According to the details updated by the Ministry on Wednesday afternoon, 13,646 people, including more than 300 foreign nationals, have been rescued so far. So far, three people have been rescued alive from inside the tunnel, including two Nepalis from the tunnel of Upper Trishuli 3 ‘A’ and one Chinese national from the tunnel of Upper Trishuli 1. Although the exact number of people missing in the tunnel is not confirmed, the search operation is ongoing. The Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) along with tunnel rescue teams from India, China and South Korea have been deployed. Search and rescue operations are being carried out in parallel at Mailung Khola, Upper Trishuli 1, 3 ‘A’, 3 ‘B’, Chilime, Rasuwagadhi and Langtang hydropower projects. The Government of <\/p>\n Nepal has asked the international community for high-capacity drones, liDAR systems, bailey bridges, DNA testing kits, underwater drones, portable generators, large pumps and tunnel rescue suits to make the rescue and identification efforts more effective. <\/p>\n Under the Galchhi-Trishuli road section, 15 bays of Acro Bridge have been installed on the Tadi River at Devighat and the work of the remaining four is going on at a rapid pace. The Nepal Army has started the construction of a suspension bridge of about 250 meters from the base of the Dhunge Buddha Temple to Trishuli Bazaar and equipment has been deployed at various places to open the road. <\/p>\n The bodies found have been buried temporarily after completing the forensic process. Forensic teams from India, China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea are working with the Nepal Police to identify the deceased.
