The Council of Asian Legislative Bodies is important to share experience in lawmaking with Asian countries: Gautam <\/strong> Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has said that the membership of the Council of Asian Legislative Bodies will provide an opportunity to collaborate and share experiences in the legislative and legal fields with Asian countries.<\/p>\n Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Minister Gautam said that the exchange of experiences from Asian countries like Nepal would help in formulating laws as per Nepal’s context. She said the Council of Asian Legislative Bodies is an intergovernmental consultative body to be established through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation and experience sharing among Asian law making and drafting bodies.<\/p>\n She said, “The Council of Asian Legislative Institutions (Council of Asian Legislative Institutions) is an intergovernmental consultative body established through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the objective of exchanging cooperation with Asian law making and drafting institutions called CALI. Minister Gautam said that the practice and experience in the field of law making and drafting from Asian countries can be a learning course for Nepal after taking membership of the Council. <\/p>\n She said, “Especially in the recent context, the Asian countries are almost the same, the same lifestyles, the same countries. As we develop, as we move forward, when the nation is carrying out its various programs, when the countries are carrying out their various programs, when we exchange with the countries that are close by, when we have the same geography, it will definitely help to make laws that are suitable to the geography.” She clar ified that the exchange of experiences through the conference will not be binding. She said that useful practices can be refined and implemented according to the context of their country. <\/p>\n “The experiences that are exchanged are not binding,” she said. We can always discuss how we can refine ourselves by sharing experiences, to make them more relevant to our context, but it is never binding. Minister Gautam also said that membership of the Council of Asian Legislative Bodies does not create a huge financial liability other than the usual administrative expenses. <\/p>\n She said that Nepal could learn from the achievements made by founding countries in the development sector and Nepal’s experiences and challenges could also be useful to other countries.
