Kathmandu. The final year students of St. Xavier’s College, who majored in Social Work and Psychology and took journalism as an optional subject, have concluded the academic year by publishing 15 newsletters. <\/p>\n
In the newsletter release ceremony held at the college, 15 newsletters prepared by the students divided into different groups were made public. Two of these groups have prepared newsletters ‘Asha Awaaz’ and ‘The Orchid Chronicles’ for NGOs Asha Nepal and Orchid Garden Nepal respectively. Through the <\/p>\n
writing project, about 100 students have been able to connect classroom learning with real work. The college said that the project has provided students with the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired in practice to connect directly with the job market and potential employers. <\/p>\n
Vice Principal of the college, Saluja Chand, Head of Major Arts Department Shishir Kumar Bhusal, representatives of participating NGOs and professors of the college were present in the program. Chun Bahadur Gurung, the faculty lead of journalism at the college, said that communication skills are necessary for students of all subjects. He said that the students are engaged in real work through the writing project to translate the knowledge learned in the classroom into practice.<\/p>\n
According to him, 91 students of the 2023 batch have prepared 15 newsletters. He said that ‘Asha Awaaz’ and ‘The Orchid Chronicles’ have been prepared for two NGOs. <\/p>\n
The Principal of the college, Fr. Dr. Augustine Thomas, S. J., said that the initiative to engage students in practical learning and real-world work is commendable. He said that such a project connects classroom learning with the workplace and gives students the opportunity to use their knowledge in meaningful work for the community. <\/p>\n
According to the college, the project aligns with the University Grants Commission’s Strategic Plan for 2024-2029, along with the concept of project-based and skill-based education to enhance student employability.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
