The 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, India, decided to advance traditional, complementary and integrative medicine as an important agenda of health cooperation among the member states. <\/p>\n<p> The New Delhi Declaration welcomed the proposal to set up an expert working group on TCIM under the BRICS Health Track. According to the Ministry of AYUSH of India, the proposed working group is expected to act as an institutional mechanism for dialogue, research, knowledge exchange and policy cooperation on traditional medicine among BRICS member states. India&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>s AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav has said that the inclusion of TCIM in the declaration is an important step in strengthening global cooperation in traditional medicine. According to him, the proposed working group will provide a common platform for member states to expand research, promote evidence-based practices and exchange experiences. <\/p>\n<p> He said that India is committed to contribute to safe, effective and affordable healthcare through scientific research, quality assurance and international cooperation for Ayurveda and other AYUSH systems. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH said that the working group can institutionalize collaboration focused on research collaboration, evidence collection, quality standards and regulatory practices. The Declaration of Medicinal Plants <\/p>\n<p> has given special emphasis on the promotion of joint research in medicinal plants and herbal preparations used for the purpose of curative and disease prevention. The BRICS countries&#8217; shared knowledge of traditional medicine can serve as the basis for the development of safe, effective and affordable medical products, the document said. <\/p>\n<p> The declaration also points out the need to strengthen evidence-based regulatory regimes to ensure quality, safety and effectiveness in accordance with the national context of member states. <\/p>\n<p> Basis Formed from the Chandigarh Meeting <\/p>\n<p> This initiative is a continuation of the TCIM meeting held in Chandigarh on July 21 during India&#8217;s BRICS Presidency. In the meeting, government officials, technical experts and representatives of the member countries agreed on research, education, knowledge exchange and regulatory cooperation. The same meeting also agreed on the mandate of the proposed Expert Working Group. <\/p>\n<p>Compatible with the World Health Organization&#8217;s Strategy<\/p>\n<p>This decision is also considered to be in line with the World Health Organization&#8217;s World Traditional Medicine Strategy for 2025-2034. The strategy aims to strengthen the scientific evidence base in traditional medicine, ensure quality and safety, and ensure appropriate inclusion in the health system. <\/p>\n<p> According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the New Delhi Declaration has laid the groundwork for a long-term cooperation related to Universal Health Access research, quality, safety and efficacy by linking TCIM to the BRICS Health Track.<\/p>\n<p>ANI<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
