Kathmandu. Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that necessary reforms will be made in the education system and curriculum based on the suggestions and complaints received from students, teachers, parents and the local community.<\/p>\n During his visit to Madhes Province and interacting directly with students, teachers and guardians at various schools of Saptari district, Minister Pokharel shared that suggestions and complaints given by students were important for education reform. <\/p>\n He said that the practice of preparing curriculum only by sitting in closed rooms in Kathmandu should be ended. “The suggestions and complaints given by the students are very poignant,” he said, “We will move towards making necessary changes in the existing curriculum by addressing the suggestions given by them.” The Madhesh Yatra of the minister and his team started from Dhanusha on September 10 and ended at Mahavir Secondary School in Saptari. During the visit, suggestions were collected from students, teachers, parents and local community on the problems, needs and reforms in the education sector. <\/p>\n According to Minister Pokharel, he has received first-hand information about the local problems and practical challenges in the education sector which is not easily known while staying in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n The experiences and suggestions collected from the classroom to the community would provide an important basis for the formulation of the upcoming Education Act and other laws and the new national curriculum, she added. <\/p>\n He said that the need for quality engineering education in Madhes is very big.
